How to download PostgreSQL database from DigitalOcean?

Infrastructure

Let's perform the following steps:

Step 1. Add your IP address to Trusted Sources in the database configuration on DigitalOcean.
Step 2. Install pgAdmin from https://www.pgadmin.org.
Step 3. Open Command Prompt and run the following two commands: 

cd "c:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\15\bin"
pg_dump.exe -h HOST -p PORT -U USER -W -F p -d DNAME > OUTPUT

You need to replace:

  • HOST with a host name from the database configuration,
  • PORT with a port number from the database configuration,
  • USER with a user name from the database configuration, e.g.: doadmin,
  • DNAME with a database name from the database configuration, e.g.: defaultdb,
  • OUTPUT with a path to the output file, e.g.: C:\db.sql
